We are a generation obsessed with more. If we need more space then it means we need more places right? Well not necessarily!
I recently worked on a superb project. A growing family were dabbling with the idea of extending their home to create more room. But not for long. A Place for Space soon had them discovering their house and all it’s hidden potential.
If your anything like I am, you know the value of ‘me time’. Having a young family is wonderful, but having grown up time is just as important too. It’s an all too familiar sight seeing your children's possessions take over every corner of the house. Clothes strewn across bedrooms, toys spilling out of boxes and schoolbags slung in the hallway. Take control of all of this by creating a personal area for each member of your family.
We looked at just that when we were invited into this fabulous home. We gave the kids an alternative space in the attic. Focusing on a cool space for them to spend time in was high on the agenda. Getting the family involved is great. Don’t compromise on quality time together. We gently encouraged old toys and broken games out of the house and were decluttered in no time!
Discovering a grown ups only room was a saving grace. Before long, a light breezy feeling descended into the very corners of this home. Mum and Dad had their space back. Investing in an area for ‘me time’ will work wonders for the whole family. We created a homely space for sharing meals and spending precious time together. But we also nabbed a room for Mum and Dad.
Evenings in your home can quickly become a sanctuary where creative energies flow and your relationships flourish. This family were soon breathing a sigh of relief. Freeing up your home really can free up your mind. Mum was soon chatting new career paths for herself having been released from the cluttered corners of her home.
